Our History

Built to strengthen the voice behind what powers modern life.

ECAM began in 1957 because electrical contractors needed to come together, support one another, and build a stronger voice for the work, skill, and responsibility this industry carries every day.

Over the decades, we evolved through amalgamation, new names, and renewed focus, eventually becoming the Electrical Contractors Association of Manitoba, but the reason we exist has remained the same: to unite, represent, and lead Manitoba's electrical contracting industry with clarity, credibility, and strength. And that matters because without electrical contractors, modern life simply does not work. No power. No lighting. No connectivity. No controls. No safe buildings. No utilities. No data centres. No growth. No modern economy as we know it.

Our members power Manitoba, where we work, play, and live, and we exist to make sure this work and the people behind it are no longer minimized, misunderstood, or overlooked, but properly recognized and respected for the essential systems they make possible.

We are and will always be the voice helping shape a stronger future for Manitoba's electrical contractors and the systems that power, connect, protect, and keep modern life moving.
